What’s The Story, Morning Glory?
Kimberly Bordonaro, a personal branding expert, has been using her ambition to propel herself to success from a young age. Bordonaro now uses this drive to inspire others to succeed as well, with her insightful yet fun approach to personal branding through a philosophy she calls ―Brandspiration.
After losing her father at the age of 15, the comfortable life Bordonaro had planned for came at a cost. She had to work to put herself through school, and within two years found herself tending to her job managing a modeling agency more than attending classes. When it came time to define a career path, she knew that, without a college degree, she had a big disadvantage from her competition. So, she took stock of what she did have to form the basis of her own personal brand:
- an inherent business sense she had developed while growing up watching her parents run their own successful company
- an empathy to relate to people
- ambition to learn
- and a proactive drive to put in the extra hours and grunt work others were unwilling to do.
By developing a strategic plan around her strongest attributes, Bordonaro landed a job as a sales assistant at the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and quickly worked her way into the public relations director position. At age 21, she was the youngest PR director the Chamber had ever had.
Bordonaro continued to live what she now defines as the ―young achiever brand.‖ As she took on more executive marketing and business development positions—from helping a mortgage company increase revenues to becoming the youngest chairperson of the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce at 31—she also became a sought-after speaker in training how to build and increase business through a solid reputation.
By continually looking forward and keeping in mind what set her apart from competitors, Bordonaro went on to teach other professionals how to do the same and develop a personal brand around their personality, unique offerings and defined niche. This passion for helping others succeed by being themselves made Bordonaro consider where she wanted to take her skills next. After the sudden loss of her mother just one month before the birth of her firstborn child, she was once again faced with the fact that life is too short and it was time to take her passion of branding to the next level.
In 2009, Bordonaro started the company that would become Kimberly Bordonaro Personal Branding to help others live their best life and achieve their goals through strategic branding. This philosophy manifested itself in Bordonaro’s best-selling ebook, ―Brandspiration: My Momma Said, which made it to #13 on Amazon Kindle’s business etiquette list.
By combining her playful sense of humor, love of lyrics and pop culture, and her astute understanding of what it takes to succeed, Bordonaro continues to urge herself and her clients on to great success.
Hey there, Rockstar!
That was a very long story. Did your eyes glaze over? I’ll sum it up: I consider myself a lyrical savant and a branding b-girl. I’ve lived a long life in a short amount of time and it’s given me the insight and determination to live my life on my own terms. I’ll show you what I did so you can, too.
Define your brand. Rock your success.
